The Pictogram and Icon Collection is an extensive compilation of pictograms and icons gathered from around the world and repertorized by industry. For each category, there is a descriptive list of icons in addition to various examples of their use including screenshot of maps, leaflets, etc. The 197-page book contains a comprehensive list of graphics and all the icons and pictograms are clearly referenced with the year and location, and well presented in the context of their application. The book proudly shows how these widespread graphics are the resulting of innovating ideas and refinement in design. The choice presented is extensive and of international calibra. Although most of the examples are very recent, the collection misses referencing the evolution of pictograms over time. Pictograms highly influence our interpretation of visual stimuli, and any designer interested in innovating in Logo Design should find in this book a great source of inspiration.
